The “Company Program”

Exciting New Business Opportunity for BHS Students!

Congratulations Hometown Classics!

Junior Achievement ChicagoCongratulations Hometown Classics for winning 1st place in “The Company” program!  This was the first year Barrington participated in this competition, and they took home the 1st place prize.

"The Company" program is made possible by Junior Achievement of Chicago and its many corporate sponsors and volunteers. Pepsico sponsored Barrington High School, allowing BHS students to participate.

With only a nine-week time frame and the guidance of Pepsico volunteers, these future business professionals worked hard to create and run and liquidate a new business. At the end of the nine weeks they were to reflect on their experience, and present to a panel of judges.

Hometown Classics OfficersThe company they formed was Barrington Hometown Classics. With the guidance of adult volunteers from Pepsico and Junior Achievement, and with the leadership of Catherine Goetze, President, students designed, produced, marketed, and sold post cards depicting Barrington landmarks from the 1960's and 70's.  They sold over 1,165 post cards, earned a 505% return on investment, and donated $337 to Relay for Life.

On April 16 the students were ready at 6:15 am to travel to the Marriott O'hare for their competition. As soon as we arrived they got straight to work setting up their display. What a team!

Not only did the students win 1st place for their company, Lauren Polito won 1st place for most professionally dressed female ($50 Discover gift card) and 1st place for VP of Public Relations ($200 Discover gift card). Paul Rothman won 1st place for VP of Finance ($200 Discover gift card), and Bruno Lima won runner up for VP of Production ($50 Discover gift card).

Hometown ClassicsAltogether, these young business professionals brought home $1,100 in prize money. Congratulations to you all! We're looking forward to next year!

Congratulations to the officers.  They each won a $100 gift card!

Congratulations also to the workers!

Huge thanks to Pepsico Volunteers!
