Class Goals

There are basically two goals is this course:

  1. Learn enough computer literacy so you can pass the Internet and Computing Core Global Standard 4 (IC3 GS4) certification exams. There are three exams: Computing Fundamentals, Key Applications, and Living Online. With these certifications, you will stand out among other job applicants for searching for employment. Furthermore, Harper College offers college credit (CIS 100) for IC3 certifications.
  2. Remember what you learned so you can use your computer literacy skills in your future career and in college. You'll build an online portfolio with samples of your work as well as tips and tricks written by you.

Certification Preparation & Portfolio

  1. Most assignments are either on this website or the Student Read Drive.
  2. Complete the assignments for the exam you're working on. Use the resources provided as well as fellow students for help but make sure your work is your own.
  3. Add your finished assignments to your Google Site portfolio, and enter the tips and tricks you'll want to remember so you can do it again.
  4. Fill out the "Please Grade" form so I know to grade your assignment.
  5. Check comments I add to your portfolio to see what needs to be corrected. All assignments may be redone for a higher grade. Also, double check that the scores on your portfolio match the scores in Infinite Campus.
  6. Take a Certiport Practice exam (see me for a voucher number)
  7. Take the certification exam. You'll have two chances to pass each exam.
  8. Repeat this preparation routine for each certification exam.
